Gun Control is always touted as a way to keep guns out of the hands of criminals.  But criminals don't follow laws.  If criminals can't get a gun legally, they will buy them on the black-market.  And innocent citizens will have more difficulty obtaining guns to protect themselves because of restrictions and waiting periods.  In states where gun rights are protected, violent crime rates drop dramatically. 

The Second Amendment is meant to protect citizens' rights to protect themselves from criminals and even oppressive government.  There is no justification for violating it.
